ATEX Accessories for Intrinsically Safe Weighing Systems
This collection brings together the essential accessories required to build, power, and extend ATEX-certified intrinsically safe weighing systems in hazardous gas and dust environments. Every product is engineered and certified to the ATEX Directive and, where applicable, the IECEx certification scheme, ensuring compliance with the most demanding Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 21, and Zone 22 installation requirements.
Whether you are commissioning a new ATEX weighing installation or expanding an existing system, this range provides the certified components needed to connect load cells safely, supply power to hazardous area indicators, control pneumatic outputs, and protect signal lines — all from a single, trusted source.
What's in This Collection
- Zener Barriers — Passive intrinsic safety barriers for load cell connections, including the ZBA1S triple-channel barrier and the KMB4 kit with individual ZBPW, ZBSG, and ZBSN barriers for supply, signal, and sense lines. Supports up to 4 × 350 Ω load cells.
- Power Supplies — ATEX and IECEx certified power supplies for DFWIECEX indicators (IECEXPW / IECEXPW24) and the PW200XRD intrinsic safety power supply for Zone 1 and Zone 21 environments, available in 230 Vac, 115 Vac, 24 Vac, and 24 Vdc input variants.
- Complete Weighing Enclosures — The EXBOX integrates a DGT1SAN weight indicator, Zener barriers, and an intrinsically safe 4–20 mA analogue output in a single ATEX 2GD Exd aluminium enclosure rated IP66, ready for Zone 2 gas and Zone 22 dust installations.
- Pneumatic Valve Accessories — ATEX and IECEx certified piezo-pilot and flipper valve units compatible with DFWIECEX digital outputs, including the PPVEX (Zone 1 gas), PPVIECEX (Zone 1 gas + Zone 21 dust), and PPVIECEX2OUT / PPVIECEX4OUT DIN rail flipper valve units (Zone 2 gas).

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Zone 1 and Zone 2 ATEX accessories?
Zone 1 is a location where an explosive gas atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation. Zone 2 is where it is not likely to occur in normal operation but may do so occasionally. Zone 1 accessories carry Equipment Protection Level (EPL) Ga or equipment category 1G/2G markings, while Zone 2 accessories are typically category 2G or 3G. Always match the accessory's ATEX category to the zone classification of your installation.
What is the difference between ATEX and IECEx certification?
ATEX is the European Union's framework for equipment used in explosive atmospheres, governed by Directive 2014/34/EU. IECEx is the international certification scheme based on IEC standards, recognised in countries outside the EU including Australia, South Africa, and the Middle East. Products carrying both certifications — such as the IECEXPW power supplies and PPVIECEX valves — are suitable for both European and international hazardous area projects.
How many load cells can I connect through the Zener barriers?
The ZBA1S, KMB4, ZBPW, ZBSG, and ZBSN barriers all support connection of up to 4 × 350 Ω load cells per barrier set. For larger installations requiring more load cells, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Are these accessories compatible with all Dini Argeo ATEX indicators?
The accessories in this collection are primarily designed for use with Dini Argeo ATEX and IECEx weighing indicators, including the DFWATEX2GD and DFWIECEX series. The PPVEX and PPVIECEX valves are specifically designed for DFWIECEX digital outputs. Please refer to individual product pages and datasheets to confirm compatibility with your specific indicator model.
What power supply do I need for the DFWIECEX indicator?
The IECEXPW (110–230 Vac input) and IECEXPW24 (24 V AC/DC input) are the dedicated ATEX and IECEx certified power supplies for the DFWIECEX indicator. Both are supplied with a 6 m input cable and 3 m output cable and include printed safety documentation and the EU Declaration of Conformity.
Can I use these accessories in dust hazardous areas as well as gas zones?
Yes. Many products in this collection carry dual gas and dust certification. The ZBA1S and KMB4 barriers, PPVIECEX valve, and IECEXPW power supplies are all certified for both gas and dust hazardous areas. Check the individual product ATEX marking for the specific dust zone and dust group covered.
Do you offer technical support for ATEX system design?
Yes. Our team has extensive experience in ATEX intrinsically safe weighing system design. Please contact us with your application details and we will be happy to advise on the correct combination of indicators, barriers, power supplies, and accessories for your installation.
