A Coventry based charity is now able to accurately weigh pallets of essential non-food items before distributing them to people who need them the most across the city, thanks to the donation of a brand-new platform scale from Coventry Scale Company.
The Bare Necessities charity works alongside Coventry Food Bank to distribute items such as sanitary products and baby care packages to community groups and social supermarkets. With large amounts of supplies being donated each week, the charity needed an accurate way of weighing the products that were coming in and going out of their distribution centre so they could manage their stock control and reduce the time it was taking to get donations out to people in crisis.
Marc Marren from Coventry Scale Company explains: “When Debbie contacted us to ask for help to weigh the essential supplies that they were distributing around the city, we were more than happy to help. The work the charity does is fantastic so as a local Coventry business, we were pleased to be able to donate the scale and support them in the brilliant work they do to help people across the city.”
Debbie Hunt, Bare Necessities Co-ordinator, comments: “Thanks to Coventry Scale Company for their generous donation of a crucial bit of kit for our project. We were very impressed with their professionalism, speed, courtesy, and general good nature – a big thanks to Marc for his practical advice and for the thoughtful and neat installation.
“We really are bowled over to have a brand-new ramped platform scale to use so quickly, especially as it’s from a Coventry based company. We have been taking full advantage of our scales and they are super easy to weigh our supplies in and out on, which means we can get donations out to people in crisis quicker.”
