VisioLine®: Integrated Vision Inspection for Thermoforming Packaging Lines

The VisioLine® from TriVision is a standardised vision inspection system designed for direct integration into thermoforming machines. By embedding seal, label and artwork, print, and barcode inspection within the thermoformer itself, VisioLine® eliminates the need for a separate downstream inspection station — saving valuable factory floor space and enabling inspection at exactly the right point in the process.

Purpose-Built for Flexible Foil and Thermoformed Packaging

VisioLine® is the preferred solution for inspecting packages made from thin, flexible foil. Seal inspection must be performed before the punching process to achieve reliable defect detection, and VisioLine® is positioned precisely within the thermoformer to fulfil this requirement. With support for 2 to 6 GigE Line Scan cameras, the system accommodates a wide range of packaging formats and inspection coverage requirements.

High-Speed Inspection with Format Flexibility

VisioLine® inspects at peak indexing speeds of up to 1,200 mm/s and throughput of up to 200 packs or 10 m/min, making it well suited to demanding, high-speed production environments. The system supports fast and effortless format changes, ensuring production flexibility is maintained without extended downtime during product changeovers.

Modular Construction for Machine Integration

The system comprises a main camera and lighting housing, a separate electrical cabinet, and an HMI panel. Customised mounting brackets fit the housing directly to the packaging machine, while the IP 66-rated cabinet is placed independently. The 15.6-inch full HD multi-touch panel can be integrated into the cabinet or mounted directly on the packaging machine, depending on the installation layout.

Intuitive Software and Open Connectivity

Running on Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC with TriVision's vision software, VisioLine® provides an intuitive operator interface for monitoring production and making real-time adjustments. OPC UA and REST API communication protocols, combined with Gigabit Ethernet and Digital I/O, enable seamless integration with MES platforms and factory data systems for traceability, early error detection, and root cause analysis.
