The BULK MIDMEKI™ from Mekitec is a high-capacity X-ray inspection system designed specifically for unpackaged bulk food products, including nuts, dried fruits, seeds, and vegetables. By extending Mekitec's trusted X-ray technology to bulk applications, BULK MIDMEKI™ allows food producers to achieve exceptional detection accuracy and sensitivity whilst maintaining smooth production flow and product integrity.

Equipped with AI-enhanced image processing, BULK MIDMEKI™ provides precise detection of foreign objects such as metal, stones, glass, bones, and dense plastics without relying on costly hardware upgrades. Industrial-Scale Throughput and Integration

The system is engineered for industrial-scale throughput, with conveyor speeds between 0.54 and 0.9 m/s and a load capacity of up to 20,000 kg per hour. Product feed and handling can be customised to match production requirements, allowing seamless integration into existing lines and optimising inspection efficiency. Automatic rejection systems safely remove contaminated items without interrupting production.

BULK MIDMEKI™ is constructed from durable brushed stainless steel and incorporates an EU and FDA-approved food-grade conveyor belt, ensuring hygiene and long-term reliability. BULK MIDMEKI™ is compliant with the UK X-ray Supermarket Code of Practice, meeting the stringent requirements for food safety inspection systems supplying the UK retail sector.

Robust Performance in Industrial Environments

The system has an IP65 rating, supports ambient temperatures from 0 to 35 degrees Celsius, and functions effectively in 30–85 per cent non-condensing humidity. Optional cooling is available for higher-temperature environments.

Safety and Standards Compliance

BULK MIDMEKI™ operates with an X-ray generator rated between 40 and 80 kV, with residual radiation below 1 µSv/h, and features safety circuitry certified to Category 3, Performance Level PL d.

User-Friendly Interface and Precision Detection

Operators interact with the system via a 12-inch colour TFT LCD touchscreen, with USB and Ethernet connectivity for integration with factory management and reporting systems. The linear scanner detector with 0.4 mm resolution ensures detailed imaging for accurate analysis, traceability, and quality assurance.
